Background
According to the Irish Hotel Federation, the number of consumers booking accommodation via the
internet will increase from 3% in 2001 to 11% by 2005 so it is essential that hotels and
guesthouses get online or risk losing out. The IHF also advised that over 56% of online
bookings should be coming from the hotels own websites
Sulware determined a gap in the Irish market for self-sufficient Internet booking solutions for
hotels. Most small to medium sized hotels, guesthouses and B&B's depend on third party
generic booking solutions to cater for their online reservations.
Sulware identified that this system can be cumbersome, expensive per
transaction and doesn't allow the hotel identity to shine reducing consumer loyalty to the
